Hi Concept Dezain friends!, as promised I bring you a brief overview of the new Studio Ghibli’s film “Karigurashi not Arrietty”.
The movie will last 80 minutes, will be produced by Ghibli president Toshio Suzuki, and will not count with the participation of Hayao Miyazaki. But the director’s chair will be occupied by Yonebayashi Hiromasa, one of the best animators in Studio Ghibli whose work in “Ponyo and the Little Mermaid secret” was praised by Miyazaki . He also served as animation director of the short movie that can only be seen in the Ghibli Museum ‘Konekobasu to Mei’ ( Mei and the Cat Bus “).
The story is based on the novel “The Borrowers” published in 1952. It recounts the life of a race of small beings who live in hiding under the floor,carpets , behind pictures and other places. The star will be the Clock family , which consists of Pod, Homily and a fifteen-year daughter ,Arrietty. The story`s conflict unfolds in the following way: Arrietty makes the mistake of revealing the existence of these beings to a human nine-year child with health problems, and in this way both of them start a great friendship. The adaptation of the Studio Ghibli will transport the story from 1950 England to 2010 Japan.

Love it. Can’t wait for this movie. Studio Ghibli are one of my favourite animation studios. They make some awesome movies and it will be interesting to see their take on ‘The Borrowers’. 🙂
