I haven’t done this (write a post for the blog) for a while, so bare with me, I’m a little rusty. This year in August, Concept Dezain turns 5 years. When I started the blog, I did so because I believed that the little knowledge I had could help others, and in fact it was so, this blog contributed it’s fair share to the “design community”.
But like many of you who have a blog know, is very difficult, and can be very frustrating. When the blog was in a sort of “climax”, I began to allow different authors to publish their articles in it, and even received money to publish some of them, at that moment it all began to fall, not only in Concept Dezain, but also throughout the “design community” it started something we could call “the list posts curse”, soon all the “half decent” design blogs began to be filled with such articles, including some I used to read. Do not misunderstand me, this kind of articles can be very useful, I have allowed them in Concept Dezain and I’ve also written many, the real problem was the excess of these kind of articles, when I opened my news feed I encountered dozens of them, also in the same era came the “share on social networks boom”, email lists were created in which publishers sent you/us different blogs articles to share and vote on the networks, many of us were doing this and we voted all that was sent our way, (without receiving the same treatment in return), without thinking about quality, “anything and everything for a share”. Even some blogs ask you to tweet or share an article so you can acces the complete content, incredible right?
I think that was the trigger and so I decided to step aside, accompanied by the amount of work and university responsibilities I had and have. But what is interesting is that these “design” blogs posted 1 or 2 list articles everyday, such as “25 super awesome pictures of cats” (really?) began to grow in every sense, and if one is trying to contribute to the web this can become very frustrating, because while you write to share and contribute, it feels good to have your effort recognized.
I started to think that my contributions were not interesting, ‘cose I didn’t got any comments or shares, etc. so I stoped writing for more than a year, the blog was almost dead, but after analyzing all, I think that if you feel you can contribute you have to write, and you should not pay attention to what others say and do.
So today I’m back, but from somewhere else, another place, a more experienced place, with another way of thinking, with renewed enthusiasm and with the idea of helping those in need of “design help”. Today I, we, start a new phase, with better, not only “shareable” but useful content so I hope that you can join us in this new phase and find our articles useful and engaging.
Thanks for reading!

Glad to know that you are back. We are planning a relaunch too.
Good luck in the new phase 🙂

Definitely, guest posts and the “roundups” killed the blogging network we had some years ago. I hope we can go back to the basics and helping each other but only with authentic articles.

Yes, I think that was the main issue all along, at least most of the blogs are changing as far as I can see
